Soon, a group of misfits, brought to the facility by their parents, discover the truth about dragons and their lair—a secret they must keep to protect what they've discovered. D'Angelo is the son of an ex-soldier who now runs security at the ICARIS lab. D'Angelo is good-natured and very disciplined. His greatest fear is disappointing his parents. Because he is very interested in veterinary medicine, he soon becomes the so-called dragon doctor of the group. D'Angelo's dragon, Plowhorn, is a one-eyed dragon from the Gembreaker class. Because she was the smallest of her pack, Plowhorn was rejected by her family. D'Angelo's compassion and trust gradually help her break down her walls, and the duo soon discover that they love breaking things down together.
