Why are we dressing out?

Kids love to dress up. But the universe of the outfit is not only reserved for the little ones. Teenagers and adults also dress up on different occasions. But why are there any festivals where there is tradition for dressing up? Two typical festivals for this costume tradition are Halloween and Fastal names.

Halloween, which in Danish is called All Saints' Saga, is originally a pagan celebration and holiday and is a northern European phenomenon. It dates back from about Year 600. The name comes from "All-Hallows Evening", where there was tradition in ancient times for prayers for the dead that ended in the Scarlet. There was a lot of focus on the dead, ghosts and other unclear, and that is why the dressing, the grass cutters, the horror stories and the decorations are in the scary corner. But the reason we wear dressing is due to the fact that the Irish who emigrated to the United States many years ago brought the tradition with them. All-Hallows evening got an American flair, which meant that it became part of the tradition that the kids dressed out. Halloween returned to Denmark, and we dress up for Halloween because of the American twist at the otherwise pagan feast. See Halloween costumes here .

Fastal names have also become the costume party. In the Middle Ages, one celebrated a permanent name to ensure a good spring and thus a good harvest. For the rich, it meant that they held rallies and other competitions while the poor drank and ate. Dressing was not part of this ancient tradition. Real-estate names became more and more a celebration, and with the carnival's birth in Italy in the 13th century, a permanent name became known for a dress-up party. "Such-or-Ballade" is because people of the Middle Ages went to the neighbor or friends to get food and drink.

Good for imagination and creativity

Clothes and costumes allow the imagination to run runaway. When wearing a costume, you enter into a new universe, and one can do what suits one or that which belongs to the character that is dressed as. One can let the brakes fall, and this may seem embarrassing to many. The idea of dressing out is to become something you are not. This outfit shows at the same time that you can become what you want. There is no sharp limit to what you can become - you just have to fight for it. When children have costumes, they assume a role that has certain features. Eg. A child in medical cost will not run around and shoot spider tissue out of wrists. The child wearing a medical costume is aware that there is the possibility of becoming a doctor. This also applies to grow, which may find out that he / she wants to be something else - and could be something else. Costumes help imagination well on the way. If you want to be a Superman, drop the Friday Sick and Down in Fitness when you're old. Children are happy to dress up and when there is a huge selection to choose from, it can be difficult to choose one when One would rather just be them all at once.

When do we use costumes?

● Halloween (Witches, Vampires, Trolls, Zombies)
● Common names (princesses, cowboys, smolves)
● Last school day (bananas, oil heels, Super Mario)
● Christmas lunches (Santa Claus, Santa Claus, Alfer)
● Theme Parties (Hawaii, 80s, James Bond, superheroes)
