Dymo label - the quick shortcut to better order

With a Dymo label or two you can quickly create an overview and order in drawers, cabinets, shelves and entire companies - and a lot has happened since the use of a Dymo pliers to make Dymo labels. Can you remember Dymo- pliers? The smart solution for marking drawers, shelves and anything else back in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. It consisted of a pliers with a large wheel with some letters around the rim that could be used to stop the selected letter on a plastic strip. You could then type the text that should be on the plastic strip by turning the wheel around to the individual letters of the text and then pushing the tang together to stop it in the plastic strip. When the text was finished, you could tear off the strip, remove the protection on The back and put the self-adhesive strip on the subject where the text should look. Did you write incorrectly along the way, it was all over the text. The wrong text text was just cooling out. It was expensive, but nice, convenient and easy.

The story of Dymo and Dymo labels

Almost 25 years ago, it was definitely goodbye to Dymo-Tang. Instead, you went to the new smart Dymo label printer that came on the market around 1990 as a battery-powered replacement for the old manual pliers.
The first Dymo label printer was a battery-powered device, equipped with a keyboard and a small display, where you could see the text before printing it on the label. The first generations wrote the text on a plastic strip in the same way as the eminent printer: The Needle Printer. Each letter was formed by small dots that were thermally transferred to the strip.
People loved it because they never needed to throw a Dymo label away because it was written wrong. At the same time, you could choose between different font sizes and types.

Dymo label printers are launched

Already back in 1978, Dymo was acquired by Swedish Esselte Office Products and 20 years later in 1998, Esselte acquired the American CoStar Corporation. They had a so-called LabelWriter - a printer that could be plugged into the USB port on one's PC or Mac and printed on different sized adhesive labels.
At that time, it was a completely unique product that was not the same as anyone else. Dymo subsequently launched the product under their own brand in 2000 with all the marketing machinery could pull.
It quickly became a success and with its wide range of different label sizes, waterproof labels and various other labeling options, the Dymo label printer quickly became a success. It did not last long before Brother launched a competitor in the form of their P-touch label printer series, which has also been widely used.
Today, Dymo is also part of Newell Rubbermaid, which also counts well-known brands such as Rotring, Parker and PaperMate.

It's smart at Dymo labels

Just like the 50-year-old Dymo strip, the Dymo label gives the printer the opportunity to create easy-to-read and practical labels and labels for everything from letters to wall hangers to storage shelves. End of unreadable collars and labels that are crossed or fallen off.
With a Dymo label, you can also type with the same font and font size that is optimal for the size of the label that is available on the subject that the Dymo label should be attached to. There are no restrictions on the performances and even small icons and other symbols can be used. If the font is installed on the computer, it can be used.
The waterproof Dymo labels also make it possible to label in exposed places, for example. On a shield for a production machine or on liquids containers.
In short, the applications are countless and the Dymo label printer is therefore an indispensable tool in many companies, institutions and private homes.
